Mentee Journals

It is said the average person only retains about 10% of what they hear. Considering this low percentage, one might think we would be more intentional at writing down our thoughts, or at best those meaningful things we hear. The truth of the matter is very few people today exercise the habit of journaling.

Over the years, we found that once mentee couples develop the habit of writing down what they’ve learned during the mentoring session, enrichment or reconciliation takes place much sooner. When mentee couples are paired with their mentor couple, both husband and wife receive a Mentee Journal. They are encouraged to intentionally extend one blessing per day to the other and record it in their journals. In addition, the Mentee Journal is used to record such things as time in the word, time in prayer and the session notes from discussions taking place in the session. Mentee couples walk away from each mentoring session with items or exercises to work on between sessions.

Like most all the components of the mentoring process, Mentee Journals are kept in 3 ring binders for easy accessibility and expandability. Mentee’s are asked to bring at least three things to each mentoring session, their Bibles for learning real Truth, the Devoted-Foundations workbook for learning how to apply these practical truths, and their Mentee Journal for charting the progress along the way.
